Determined Dexter (7) sets himself 40p fundraising target - and nets £140 for Children in Need

A YOUNG fundraiser who set himself a target of 40p surpassed all expectations when he brought in more than £140!

Dexter Jeffrey (7, pictured) is running 2km every day this week with dad Simon in aid of Children in Need.

Proud dad Simon said: “The idea was all done to Dexter.

“He loves taekwondo and has never really been a runner before but he was watching something about the rickshaw challenge for Children in Need and decided he wanted to do something himself.

“He initially said let’s do 5k but we decided to do 2k every day for a week.

“I asked what he wanted to raise and he said 40p! He went round family and got about £20 and since we set up a Go Fund Me page he’s got to £140.”

Little Dexter, of Rawmarsh, has his own YouTube channel and posts an update before and after every run.

Simon said: “He chooses the route and we go and run 1k in one direction and then run back.

“He likes to do a little ‘after’ update for his YouTube channel so he can prove he’s done it.”
