A MARKET trader has been found guilty of raping a teenage girl and 19 sexual offences against five boys under 17.
Charles Morgan (47), of Midland Road in Masbrough, was convicted at Sheffield Crown Court on Friday.
The offences took place over a seven years starting in the 1980s and a four years during the last decade.
Jurors found him guilty of ten counts of indecent assault, five of sexual activity with a child, three of sexual assault, one of paying for sexual services of a child and one of rape.
Det Con Liz Portman called Morgan “a despicable predator”.
She said: “Thanks to the bravery of the victims, he has now been exposed as an evil perpetrator who took away young people’s innocence.
“It is as a result of their strength that Morgan is now a convicted sex offender facing a lengthy jail term.”
The first victim came forward to police in June 2016. His interview identified further victims and an investigation was launched.
Morgan denied all charges when interviewed, but admitted exchanging sexually explicit text messages with one of the boys.
In court he described these as “banter” and denied that anything sexual had ever happened.
Following the verdict, Morgan was remanded into custody and will be sentenced on Friday, April 20, at Sheffield Crown Court.
