Denaby church celebrates 120 years of worship
Rt Rev Ralph Heskett, the Bishop of Hallam, concelebrated Mass in St Alban’s Church in Denaby last Wednesday to celebration the milestone, followed by entertainment and refreshments in St Alban's Catholic Club.
The church was opened in June 1898 by Rt Rev William Gordon, Bishop of Leeds, a year after the foundation stone for the £4,000 building was laid.

Hide AdIt aimed to serve the growing pit community based around the Denaby Main and Cadeby Main collieries, which employed 4,500 men and boys by 1903.
The celebration mass last week was attended by parishioners, residents, Vicar of All Saints’ Parish Church Rev Reg Davies, the Deputy Mayor and Consort, Cllr Linda Curran and Mr Duncan Anderson, Doncaster Council Cabinet Member for public health, leisure and culture, Cllr Nigel Ball, ward councillors, representatives from St Alban’s Catholic Primary School, members of St Alban’s Catholic Club and Clive Kirk from Turners Funeral Service.
