A NEW dementia café aimed to support people with the condition as well as their families and carers is starting tomorrow at Rotherham Hospital.

The first dementia-friendly session will be held at the rooftop restaurant at Rotherham Hospital on Wednesday from 1.30pm until 3.30pm.

Natasha Hinton, frailty lead nurse, said the aim was to run the café monthly in a bid to become accredited as dementia-friendly by the National Dementia Alliance.

“We are working hard to raise more awareness for dementia and the café is being run with support from the mental health liaison team and The Alzheimer’s Society,” Natasha added.

“Come along and have a cuppa with someone who understands — and our highly skilled staff can give you information and help signpost you to other available support services.”
