Deliberate fires started in Kimberworth and Maltby last night

FIREFIGHTERS tackled grassland fires in Kimberworth Park and Maltby last night (Wednesday) which were started deliberately.

FIREFIGHTERS tackled grassland fires in Kimberworth Park and Maltby last night (Wednesday) - both of which were started deliberately.

A crew from Rotherham was called to woodland at Fenton Road, Kimberworth Park, at 8.12pm, where there were several areas of fire, a spokeswoman for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said.

They left the scene at 8.45pm.

A crew from Maltby station was called to Victoria Street, Maltby, at 8.40pm, where grassland area measuring 60m by 40m was on fire, the spokeswoman added.

Firefighters left the scene at 9.08pm.

Both fires were started deliberately, she added.
