Deliberate derelict building fire in Rotherham town centre

A FIRE was started in a derelict building in Rotherham town centre last night (Thursday).

Crews from Rotherham and Maltby were called to Howard Street at 9.50pm.

"The fire was deliberate and the crews left at 10.25pm," said a spokeswoman for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue.

"Paper and rubbish was set on fire on the ground floor of the building and it was unoccupied at the time."
