Delay in finding Alena Grlakova's body referred to police's professional standards unit

THE delay in finding the body of murder victim Alena Grlakova — who was discovered in an area which had already been searched by police — has been referred to the force's professional standards department.

Last Monday, the 38-year-old mother of four's body was found naked and concealed in a dried-up stream off Taylors Lane, Parkgate.

Alena was reported missing by worried relatives on January 15 and was last seen alive on Boxing Day leaving the Fitzwilliam Arms Hotel on Taylors Lane at 10.30pm.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: "The area was searched in February and following a review of all of the search areas, it was revisited earlier this month.

"The force’s professional standards department has been made aware."

A 45-year-old Rotherham man who was arrested on suspicion of murder has been released on bail.
