Defender Jamie McCart finalises move to Rotherham United

SCOTTISH defender Jamie McCart has finalised a move to Rotherham United on a three-year deal.

The signing, subject to EFL and FA ratification and international clearance, was confirmed tonight after the 25-year-old underwent a full medical earlier in the day.

McCart brings a much-needed boost to the Millers' depleted defensive ranks and arrives with a good pedigree.

He has stacked up more than 100 appearances for St Johnstone in the last two years, including matches in the Europa League.

McCart was outstanding in the Perth club's double-winning year the season before last when they lifted the Scottish Cup and a first ever Scottish League Cup.

The defender attracted attention from clubs in England as a result and then rediscovered better form again in the second half of last season, paving the way for his move south to Rotherham.

McCart was chooled at Celtic, where his dad, Chris McCart, is youth chief, and had loan spells St Mirren, Alloa and Inverness Caledonian Thistle before joining the latter on a permanent basis in 2018.

He made 62 appearances in all competitions for the Highland outfit over 18 months before arriving at McDiarmid Park.

McCart also has Scotland at U19 and U21 caps.

He becomes manager Paul Warne's fourth signing of the summer after strikers Conor Washington and Tom Eaves and wing-back Peter Kioso.

Meanwhile, Mickel Miller has got fixed up with a new club following his release from Rotherham United.

The winger has joined Plymouth Argyle on a two-year deal, the Pilgrims having reportedly beaten several other League One clubs to his signature.
