Former Old Hall Comprehensive pupil Ashleigh (32) works for Killis, which provides PPE to care homes, the NHS, police and others.

She stayed in her role long after her expected maternity leave start date to help meet the demand — and even ended up chartering planes bringing the supply of safety kit.

Ashleigh, who grew up in Thorpe Hesley, eventually finished work on May 7 — less than 48 hours before giving birth to son Hendrix.

“When the pandemic hit everyone in the business diversified and did anything we could to help,” she said.

“My position is the operations manager but having a history in logistics, when Tibor started sourcing PPE from new suppliers around the world, I got involved arranging this and chartering planes to supply various markets and NHS sites.

“It’s great to feel we have helped in what has been a very difficult time for all.”

Ashleigh’s final maternity months coinciding with coronavirus meant she had to attend appointments without fiance Cole (25).

“With all the uncertainty and terrible things happening, it would be a dream for us to win this wedding and share our love with friends and family,” said Ashleigh.
