POLICE have named the 52-year-old jogger killed following after a collision with a tipper truck as Derek Lyon.
Mr Lyon (52), of The Crescent, Conisbrough, was jogging along Ruddle Lane toward Edlington when it is believed that he was hit by a yellow Iveco Tipper truck last Thursday.
Police understand that the the tipper, which was also travelling toward Edlington, hit Mr Lyon while overtaking a silver BMW 3 Series and did not stop just before 4.30pm at Micklebring.
Mr Lyon died from his injuries and floral tributes have now been laid at the scene.
A spokesman for South Yorkshire Police said: “Enquiries including forensic examination are ongoing.
“We are appealing for anyone who was in the Micklebring and Edlington area on March 22 between 4.15pm and 5pm and who has information in relation to the yellow Iveco Tipper lorry, to call South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 749 of March 22.”
An inquest into Mr Lyon’s death was opened and adjourned at Doncaster Coroner’s Court yesterday.
