Deadline nears to join fire service committee

APPLICATIONS to join South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Authority's Audit Committee need to be in before the end of this week.

By joining up, members of the public can help promote excellence in governance, financial reporting and performance.

The committee oversees the internal and external audit functions of the fire authority, to provide independent assurance of how well it is run.

Applicants need financial awareness and the ability to question, probe and seek clarification on complex issues.

Most Popular

The opportunity is open to anyone not currently employed by SYFRA, and the committee meets about six times a year.

An annual allowance will be payable and travel expenses covered.
