Deadline looms for comments on Manvers waste site plan

RESIDENTS have less than a week to have their say on plans for a new waste plant on Rotherham’s doorstep.

Rotherham Borough Council has published the detailed documents relating to the plant at Manvers on its website at www.rotherham.gov.uk.

It is part of a consultation process running until Monday  under which interested parties have to be allowed the chance to make formal comments about the extensive plans.

Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham Councils, through a body known as BDR Waste Partnership, have received £77.4 million in government funding to help pay for the scheme after picking energy partnership 3SE as its preferred choice to build and operate the state-of-the-art facility.

The plant, at Bolton Road, Manvers, could be up and running by 2015 and process up to 250,000 tonnes of waste every year.
