LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Opposition do not deal with the real problems

FOR the third week in succession the news from Parliament, aided by the Labour “opposition?”, is dominated not by our Government’s continued assaults on our democracy and freedoms, but by the old news of Downing Street parties.

FOR the third week in succession the news from Parliament, aided by the Labour  “opposition?”, is dominated not by our Government’s continued assaults on our democracy and freedoms, but by the old news of Downing Street parties. By now it’s surely obvious that if this Prime Minister does go he will only be replaced by one of a whole front bench of candidates, some even worse than him. But maybe “Johnson bashing” is easier for the opposition than revealing their impotence at dealing with the real problems.

In the meanwhile the Conservative’s assault on our freedom to disagree continues. The Elections Bill (by which you can’t vote without photo identification), The Judicial Review and Courts Bill (the one in which Trades Union courts are included, and under which awards against the Government for illegal action can either be delayed indefinitely, or the award dated from the judge’s decision only so anyone awarded thousands for a previous illegal decision by the Government gets nothing), and the Dissolution and Calling of Parliament Bill, (by which due to the Emergency Powers Act the next general election can be delayed indefinitely), are all due for a hearing this month, as indeed is the continuing debate on the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill.

On the climate front, the proposed new nuclear power station is set to go ahead, and since neither the builder nor the Government want to pay for it, it will be funded by an on-going levy extracted monthly from every electricity customer in the country, whether they want nuclear power or not, and whether they can afford it or not. And with Glasgow’s Climate Conference now over, drilling for oil and gas in East Yorkshire is back on the agenda, followed no doubt by coal mines in Cumberland, gas power stations on the east coast, and fracking in Harthill , Woodsetts and Maltby area (and remember that in future protests will be illegal.)

As regards the Covid/Omicron pandemic, in spite of continuing infection and death rates in Britain and the reported highest infection rate in Europe, we are still relaxing our anti-infection precautions. And despite increased calls throughout the world for us to relax the TRIPS regulation and help supply Third World countries with vaccines, we are still holding firm on our ban, so South Africa still continues as a deep unvaccinated pit where Covid-19 can thrive, multiply and adapt. Seems like we are still in the hands of  people determined to be the richest corpses in the graveyards .

Of course I could be wrong. According to Clive Phillips, Address Withheld, I write total nonsense and twaddle, that despite wanting to save the world the Green Party only promotes policies that destroy the planet and impoverish nations, that if we were in power we would bankrupt the nation so fast you wouldn’t believe, that my reports of deaths from Covid/Omiccon are the most ridiculous pieces of misinformation in history, that nobody has died from Omricon but are really dying from the poisons the World Health Authorities are injecting us with under the guise of vaccines, and to be cured of all forms of Covid-19, I and all the other “sheeples” should be using a “government suppressed” mixture of an immunity enhancer and scurvy treatment, a well-known medical and veterinary treatment for head lice, scabies and ailments caused by parasitic worms, an anti-inflammatory used to treat malaria and arthritis, and a further substance used in the treatment of malaria, colds, lung Infections and aids.

The times are still interesting, I’m beginning to feel very old, and my wish to leave our great grandchildren a world that they can survive on seems to be getting further away
