Dad (22) shot SEVEN times in street robbery for £2,000 gold chain

A MAN shot seven times as he was robbed of his £2,000 gold chain by a masked gang outside a supermarket says he wants “justice” for the shocking daylight attack.

Konnor Verity was left with wounds to his shoulder, arm, ribs and hands after being held up in a Swallownest side street and shot with an air pistol.

The angry dad of one, of Swinton, said: “I want them to pay for what they’ve done.”

Konnor (22) had left daughter Tillie-Rae fishing with two older cousins at Aston Ponds to pop to a shop in High Street, Swallownest, for tobacco when he was attacked at about 6pm last Friday.

He said: “I came out of the shop and this gang of lads came towards me.

“As I walked back to my car, they surrounded me and one pulled out a gun and started shooting.

“I put up my hands to defend myself and he shot me in the hand.

“All I could think of was my daughter and getting back to her.

“One of them grabbed the chain and we had a tug of war over it but I was hit with a metal bar, I let go and they all ran off.”

Konnor, who said the attacker with the gun had been wearing a balaclava and the others covered their faces with hoods or scarves, jumped in his car and drove back to Aston Ponds.

He washed off the blood from his wounds using his T-shirt before returning to his daughter, explaining his injuries by saying he had fallen over.

His horrified girlfriend Vicki Drabble, of Rother View Road, Canklow, said she had been in “total shock” when Konnor rang to tell her had been shot.

“He had only gone to the shop for some tobacco,” she said. “He said he had squeezed two of the bullets out himself.

“It’s scary. If he’d not put his hands up, he would have been shot in the face.”

Konnor went to hospital for treatment and was discharged on Friday night, but returned on Monday for surgery to have three pellets removed.

He has been told he needs physiotherapy and may take up to two months to recover fully from his injuries.

The stolen chain, which Konnor is pictured above wearing and he bought from a seller in Doncaster about five months ago after seeing it advertised online, is a 9ct gold tulip-style chain with a studded crucifix.

Vicki’s online appeal for witnesses and information has been shared almost 700 times.

Police confirmed they were investigating the robbery.
