Cyclist sustains 'serious head injury' after Wath collision

A CYCLIST has been taken to hospital with a serious head injury following a collision with a car this morning (Friday).

Police received reports of a collision between a blue Kia Venga and a cyclist on Quarry Hill Road, Wath, at the junction with Sandygate Road at around 8.40am.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said the 22-year-old cyclist from Rotherham was taken to hospital where he remained in a critical but stable condition.

“The driver of the Kia was not believed to have been injured,” she added.

“The road is currently closed while investigations are carried out.”
