Curse of Twitter strikes again . . .

They never learn do they?

You would think politicians would be well-aware of the dangers of Twitter by now, given the number of careers that have been ruined by indiscreet Twitterings.

But no.

Charlotte Blencowe, who is standing as a Tory candidate for the Wales ward in the council elections next Thursday, has fallen into the trap.

Charlotte' s Twitter page contains some interesting thoughts couched in some, well, unparliamentary language.

A teacher at a Sheffield school, Charlotte writes:

"Bloody sports day, I think I'd rather poke my eyes out with a hair grip!"

And she's got some interesting thoughts on the north-south divide.

"Return to the north," reads one of her posts. " I miss all the new shiny stuff."

"Saturday night in South Yorkshire is horrid, wheres the life, wheres the culture, i keep forgetting where i live," reads another.

And another says: "Swine flu in Sheffield F***king great!

There's more in a similar vein, but to be fair to Charlotte, she hasn't posted recently.

But the internet's a public arena and putting this sort of stuff online isn't going to help if you've ambitions to be a serious politician.
