Cricket league makes late appeal for new teams

A CRICKET league has made a desperate late appeal for new teams after several dropped out at the 11th hour.

Division One of the Rotherham Midweek League has been left with only five sides after South Yorkshire Lions, Wickersley and Rotherham Royals decided they would not be entering due to lack of commitment from players.

That left only five teams – Mexborough, Darfield, Aston Hall, Tiger and MCC. Fixtures were issued last week with each club playing each other three times.

However the subsequent withdrawal of MCC, last year's league champions, has delivered another blow and now Midweek

League secretary Ian Patterson is urging prospective teams to come forward.

Any team wishing to join or wanting more information is asked to contact Ian on 07986 555307 or 01709 305575.
