A WOMAN from Rotherham was left with serious injuries following a collision involving a car and a van.
The 47-year-old was travelling towards the M1 motorway along the A616, near the Tankersley roundabout, when the car she was travelling in collided with a white Mercedes van attempting to make a u-turn.
A police spokesman said that the van, driven by a man from Colne. in Lancashire, had been stationary in a roadside lay-by before pulling out into the road at around 6.50pm on Saturday.
He added: “The driver of the Peugeot suffered serious ankle and chest injuries. She was taken to Northern General Hospital and detained.”
Witnesses of the incident are now being urged to contact South Yorkshire Police by dialling 101 and quoting incident number 1021 of November 26.
