Crafty mum creates super-cool "igloo" playhouse from used milk bottles
Anna Kavanagh is using washed-out four-litre plastic flagons to form rings of white building blocks as the “ice” bricks for the dome-shaped shelter - but admitted it was taking longer than she expected.
“I’m about halfway through,” she said.
“I asked online for people to save their milk bottles and I go out and collect them.
“But it takes more per layer than I thought it would do, so I’m going through layers faster than people are getting through the bottles.
“My kids have stopped drinking milk, too!”
Anna, of Albert Street, Swinton, added: “I found out online about a school that was making one with milk bottles, and I thought I could do that myself.
“But I did not realise how many bottles it would take - it takes 43 bottles to do a layer, and I’ve done nine layers so far.”
Anna, who is a full-time mum to Jimmy (3) and Finn (4), has a creative background, having studied graphic design and photography at college.
She added: “Through lockdown, when I was with my kids home schooling we did a lot of creative stuff - I love it.”
Anna, who admitted husband Richard thinks she is “crazy”, appealed to anyone who could supply her with used, washed-out milk containers to send her a message on Facebook.
