Covid test stocks ‘adequate’ at the moment

ROTHERHAM Council says there are “adequate” but “not unlimited” stocks of Covid-19 tests in the borough — and is reminding people that in-person collection points will have Christmas opening hours.

Last week, the national online ordering site ran out of lateral flow tests (LFT) following the prime minister’s Covid update announcement on December 12.

The RMBC spokesperson said: “Currently, due to the higher demand for tests because of the new guidelines, there are some issues with the online ordering system — however, pharmacies are still offering LFT kits.

“In Rotherham, while supplies are not unlimited, they do appear adequate at the moment with lateral flow tests still available from local libraries or the leisure centres. These tests are only for people without symptoms.

“Anyone requiring home delivery who is unable to collect from one of these locations should continue to check the national ordering site or call 119 to see when and where tests are available for delivery.”

The spokesperson added: “The in-person collection points will have Christmas opening hours so people should check before leaving to pick up their packs.”
