COVID-19 inpatient numbers at Rotherham Hospital have dipped below 100 for the first time since the start of the third lockdown.
As of Wednesday morning, the hospital was treating 76 inpatients who have tested positive for Covid-19 — down 26 from the previous week — 11 of whom were in critical care, said a spokesperson for The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust.
Within the last week, there have been 15 new Covid-19 deaths at the hospital, bringing the total figure to 527 since the start of the pandemic.
So far, hospital staff have treated a total of 2,212 Covid-19 positive patients, of which 1,522 have been discharged.
Rotherham’s coronavirus infection rate has also dropped again within the last week.
As of Sunday, the infection rate was 224.2 per 100,000 people — down 20 per cent from the previous week.
