Covid deaths triple in a week

TEN more people have died at Rotherham Hospital after testing positive for Covid-19 — more than triple the patient numbers last week.

As of this morning, the number of inpatients being treated with the virus remained steady at 87, of whom two were in critical care at the hospital.

New case numbers across the borough have fallen, according to the latest figures.

The total number of inpatients who have tested positive since Covid-19 began is now 3,823.

In the last seven days, 5,707 people have tested positive in the borough — a fall of more than eight per cent on a week ago.

More than 85 per cent of the population in Rotherham aged over 12 have had their first dose, nearly 80 per cent (79.1 per cent) have had their second, and more than 60 per cent (60.8 per cent) have received a booster jab.
