Covid deaths double, patient numbers fall at Rotherham Hospital

DEATHS of Covid-19 positive patients are on the rise again at Rotherham Hospital after more than doubling in a week.

There were ten deaths after a positive Covid test in the week to this morning - up from four in the previous week.

But in-patient numbers with the virus have fallen at the hospital.

As of this morning, the number of in-patients being treated with the virus was 31 — down from 48 last week — with one patient in critical care.

Positive Covid-19 cases also continue to decrease in the borough. In the last seven days, 401 people tested positive — a drop of more than seven per cent.

The total number of inpatients who have tested positive since Covid-19 began is now 4,814.

More than 85 per cent of the population in Rotherham aged over 12 have had their first dose of the vaccine, 81.5 per cent have had their second and more than 64 per cent (64.7 per cent) have received a booster jab.
