Covid deaths and patient numbers halve at Rotherham Hospital

As of Wednesday morning, the number of inpatients being treated with the virus was 48 — down from 90 last week — with no patients in critical care at the hospital.

Deaths after a positive Covid test have dropped from 11 to four.

Positive cases also continue to fall in the borough. In the last seven days, 532 people tested positive — a drop of more than a quarter (26.7 per cent).

The total number of inpatients who have tested positive since Covid-19 began is now 4,791.

More than 85 per cent of the population in Rotherham aged over 12 have had their first dose of the vaccine, 81.5 per cent have had their second and more than 64 per cent (64.6 per cent) have received a booster jab.
