Covid deaths and patient numbers fall at Rotherham Hospital

COVID deaths have halved and patient numbers are falling at Rotherham Hospital, with cases dropping in the borough, too.

Six more people have died at the hospital after testing positive for Covid-19, compared with 12 last week. 

As of this morning, the number of inpatients being treated with the virus fell to 27 from 48 last week, with two patients in critical care at the hospital.

According to the latest figures, the number of people testing positive in the borough in the last seven days has dropped below a thousand to 949 — 40 per cent fewer cases compared with last week’s 1,585. 

The total number of inpatients who have tested positive since Covid-19 began is now 4,141. 

More than 90 per cent of the population in Rotherham aged over 12 have had their first dose of the vaccine, 84.8 per cent have had their second and more than two thirds (65.8 per cent) have received a booster jab.
