Counter-terrorism police swoop on Dearne Valley home

COUNTER-terrorism police arrested a man in the Dearne Valley after raiding house.

The 28-year-old man was arrested at a property in Brampton Bierlow last Thursday on suspicion of disseminating terrorist publications (contrary to Section 2 of the Terrorism Act 2006).

He was taken to a local police station by officers from Counter Terrorism Policing North East (CTPNE) for questioning.

The property on Wath Road was also searched as part of the investigation.

“The activity was pre-planned and the male was released under investigation on the same day,” said a spokeswoman for CTPNE.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing weapons being carried out of the property by police and the gardens being dug up after the 6.30am raid.

Police reportedly left the scene at 2.30pm.
