Council officials are considering how to stop travellers pitching up at Greasbrough again after being called into action following reports of surprise visitors.
Caravans parked up on Greasbrough Recreation Ground last Wednesday.
An RMBC spokeswoman said officers had attended the site without an hour being called.
“The group was asked to leave the site and the formal process of removing those who remain has begun,” she said.
“In addition, the council is considering options for the site to prevent future access to caravans and off-road vehicles.”
