COUNCIL staff trying to enforce lockdown rules have faced abuse, a senior councillor said.
Cllr Sarah Allen, cabinet member for cleaner, greener communities, told a cabinet meeting workers had been trying to ensure government rules on social distancing were followed.
She added: "Green spaces staff have been trying to impose social distancing rules have met with some resistance.
"Notices are being torn down daily, staff are receiving some abuse from people who don't want to socially distance.
"But our staff are continuing to try and make things safe and keep things safe for residents."
