A FOOD drop-off point for isolated pensioners has received tens of donations — but help is needed to get it to those in-need.

Rotherham business owners and friends Michelle Leyland and Richard Badger have set up the donation point at ELR estate agents in East Bawtry Road, Wickerlsey.

Michelle, who is the director of Wellgate Money, said the groceries are for older people who are finding it difficult to get out to the shops

“So far we have got a desk that’s filled with tinned goods, toilet rolls, dog food, lifelong milk and other items,” she said.

Donations have been flooding in since Sunday after Michelle appealed for goods on social media.

“I’ve contacted Age UK and other charities to see if they can point us in the right direction as to who needs these items the most,” she added.

“People can come in and take items to donate to elderly relatives.”

Michelle said she feared due to the “proudness of isolated pensioners” they wouldn’t access foodbanks and she wanted to find out where to send donated goods.

ELR is open between 9am to 5pm for drop-offs.
