POLICE say they are cracking down on reckless drivers in Rotherham after catching three vehicles speeding last week. 

Rotherham Neighbourhood Police Team conducted 153 sessions in Parkgate, Rawmarsh and Swinton yesterday afternoon as part of Operation Slowdown.

Another vehicle was caught excessing speeds of 35mph in St Nicolas Road, Rawmarsh. 

Police said in a recent neighbourhood survey, the communities had told them that speeding vehicles were an issue.

A spokesperson for Rotherham NPT said: “Those drivers who decided to exceed the speed limits on the above roads, will be receiving some form of paperwork from our colleagues over at the Safety Camera Partnership.

“There is a vast network of roads in the North Policing area, and we try to get to as many locations as possible, throughout the year and at different times.

“Our colleagues over at the Safety Camera Partnership, will also be out and about in the area with their mobile camera vans.”
