Convicted paedophile cleared of attacking neighbour

A RAWMARSH man accused of attacking his neighbour with a rounders bat has been acquitted of all charges.

Graham Brookes (53), of St Nicolas Road, Rawmarsh, was found not guilty at Sheffield Crown Court today (Tuesday) of possession of a dangerous weapon and assault occasioning actual bodily harm following a two-day trial.

A jury returned a unanimous verdict of not guilty on both counts after deliberating for 50 minutes.

Brookes was given a 12-month prison sentence, suspended for two years, in March after being found guilty of six counts of making indecent images of children, one of distributing indecent images of children and one of possessing extreme pornography involving an animal.
