"Controlled burn" at Conisbrough leads to tree blaze

A FIRE which began as a controlled burn accidentally spread to some trees in Conisbrough last night (Thursday).

Firefghters from Edlington station were called to High Street at 8.50pm, a spokeswoman for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said.

"The fire started off as a controlled burn and spread to some trees," said the spokeswoman.

"Because it began as a contolled burn it was has been logged as accidental."

Firefighters left the scene at 9.50pm, she added.
