Consultation opened on future of Rotherham sex establishments

CONSULTATION has opened on the future of sex establishments in Rotherham.

Opinions will help shape the council’s policy — banning lapdancing venues near places of worship, for example.

The changes will also aim to improve conditions for those working in the sex entertainment industry.

Cllr Emma Hoddinott, Rotherham Borough Council’s cabinet member for community safety, said: “We need to look again at this particular industry.

“It is time we reviewed the licensing around sex establishments, ensuring we have the best interests of our communities at heart when applications are heard.”
