Conservation project shows students love of nature

STUDENTS showed their commitment to nature and the environment when they supported a conservation project on their doorstep.

The pupils from Winterhill School took part in a national effort framed around the COP26 climate summit by planting trees and engraving a commemoration stone at the Engine Ponds site in Kimberworth.

The school said the pond regeneration project had been chosen as “there are no other projects within South Yorkshire that have the longevity and impact it has”.

More than 140 past and present students have taken part in the pond project in the past six years.
