Concessionary bus pass scheme to be extended

TRANSPORT bosses will debate plans to offer concessionary travel to all 16 to 18-year-olds in South Yorkshire.

The proposals, due to be discussed at Sheffield City Region Combined Authority Transport Committee on Monday, May 8, are to make concessionary travel passes available to all 16 and 17-year-olds including those on apprenticeships and in work.

The pass will also, for the first time, be valid during August providing access to discounted travel across South Yorkshire, including 80p single fares on bus and tram, half price rail fare on Northern Rail and value for money operator tickets all year round.

Arrangements for young people aged 11 to 16 will remain unchanged, meaning that young people in this age bracket with a MegaTravel pass can continue to benefit from discounted travel across South Yorkshire.
