Collision on M1 near Tankersley and Dodworth causing delays into Rotherham

A COLLISION on the M1 this morning (Tuesday) has caused a back up of traffic coming into Rotherham.

Highways England said the incident had happened on the southbound side between junction 36 (Tankersley) and junction 37 (Dodworth) just after 8am. 

The road has now been re-opened after two lanes were closed earlier but the incident is still causing considerable congestion spanning a few miles, which could affect road users coming into Rotherham and the Dearne Valley.

A spokesperson for Highways England said drivers should add an extra 30 minutes on their expected journey time to allow for the delays.

Officers from South Yorkshire Police Operational Support Unit, who have been on scene this morning, said those involved in the collison had suffered minor injuries.
