College to host Police Commissioner hustings

COMPANIES and individuals are invited to a meeting tackling the subject of business crime.

The free event, at Dearne Valley College on November 9, will give businesses the chance to quiz South Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner candidates on the subject ahead of the vote on November 15.

It has been organised by Barnsley and Rotherham Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Business Crime Reduction centre — an initiative which helps small to medium-sized firms tackle problems caused by crime.

A spokesman for the event said: “Business crime is one of the most important risks and dangers for businesses and manifests itself in a multitude of ways depending on the size and sector of the company.

“It has been a long held priority for the chamber that we lobby the key partners to ensure that business crime is a key area of attention and action, especially from South Yorkshire Police themselves.

“Furthermore the chamber would welcome an official business crime strategy.

“The hustings event will give delegates an exclusive opportunity to question and quiz the commissioner hopefuls on anything relating to the business crime agenda.”
