College strike called off by union

THE NUT teachers’ union has called off a strike planned for today at Thomas Rotherham College after employers threatened a legal challenge to the ballot.

NUT members at TRC and other sixth form colleges outside London were set to strike from lunchtime.

The strike was suspended after solicitors representing the Sixth Form Colleges Forum—the national employer body—said legal challenge would be pursued unless the call to take strike action was withdrawn.
