Rotherham Central Neighbourhood Policing team have checked out 12 pubs in the town since March as part of Operation Alligator.

The initiative aims to respond to public concerns about crime.

A spokesman for the team said: “Checks of local pubs in Thorpe Hesley indicated that someone was using cocaine inside one of the premises.

“What’s worse is that the toilet seat tested positive as well. Hygiene improvement needed for someone, I think.

“We have done about 12 premises across Rotherham Central since we’ve been doing Operation Alligator at beginning of March.

“It’s always based on information from communities and partners.”
