Coach firm offers free rides to work for NHS staff

A COACH company is offering NHS staff free transport to hospitals in Rotherham and Sheffield.

Cawthorne’s Travel, based on Barbot Hall Industrial Estate, said its fleet of vehicles had been stood still during the coronavirus crisis and all of its work had been cancelled.

But from tomorrow, the company is offering free rides to NHS staff and are urging people to spread the message.

“We are a small family company which has been badly affected due to the crisis,“ said managing director James Cawthorne (pictured).

“”All our work has been cancelled and our vehicles are now parked up.

“Due to this and public transport cutting services, we are offering NHS staff free transport to hospitals in Rotherham and Sheffield to try and help in the crisis.

“Up to now we have posted this on our Facebook page and have had a huge response in 24hrs - but we would like to get this to as many NHS staff as possible who are struggling with transport as many have been saying they are facing up to two-hour journeys.

“We are currently using minibuses but as demand grows to try and help with social distancing we will be putting on larger coaches.”
