Four members of Catcliffe-based Jack’s Theatre School had their locks cut to provide hair to a charity that creates wigs for children.

The Little Princess Charity will benefit from the offerings by Bethany Egan (9), Maisy Oldale (10), Violet Grady (10) and Manda) Hackner (19) who, with teacher Olivia Egan, had a total of 54 inches of hair shorn.

The cutting was carried out at the theatre school’s Christmas party.

Jack’s Theatre School has been fundraising for the charity through its Just Giving website page at www.justgiving.com/jackstheatreschoolbighaircut.

Teacher Olivia Egan said: “We have been floored by the response we have had from people. It just seems to be something that touches people’s hearts.

“So far we have smashed our original target of £500 and we hope to make nearly £1,000 in the end for the charity.

“It’s really important to provide the money needed to make the wigs, and also to buy afro wigs which they currently cannot make for themselves.

“Each wig costs between £300 and £500 so it is an expensive business.”

Jack’s Theatre School is a musical theatre school for children and adults in Catcliffe and has been open for just over two years.
