Clean-up help for Goldthorpe needed

VOLUNTEERS are needed to help with a community clean-up in Goldthorpe this weekend.

VOLUNTEERS are needed to help with a community clean-up in Goldthorpe this  weekend.

The event has been organised as part of June volunteering month which is led by Love Where You Live and Voluntary Action Barnsley.

Volunteers are being asked to help clear the streets with a litter-pick which will start at JJs Chippy in Frederick Street on Saturday from 10am-11am.

Tools will be provided for all volunteers.

The community clean-up is part of ongoing work towards the regeneration of Goldthorpe.

Barnsley Council recently announced a number of plans to revive the area including bringing empty properties back into use, creating a new school, installing CCTV, bringing houses up to decent homes standards and creating extra care housing for older people.

If you would like to take part in the clean-up, call Marie Sinclair on 01226 774469.
