And afterwards the Advertiser’s events manager Mandy Tyler said: “It was a magical night with a brilliant atmosphere which went down a storm with the audience.

“The talent was amazing and I was very proud to be associated with the event.”

Outright winner was 17-year-old Chloe Bird from, Broom, who won professional recording sessions at Rotherham’s Music Factory and will represent the Advertiser at major events next year.

“She was absolutely blown away by the result. Her powerful voice made her quite outstanding,” said Mandy.

In second place was Emma Crowder (16), from Whiston and third spot went to 16-year-old Bethany Coburn from Brinsworth.

The event, in front of a full house at the Consort Suite in Thurcroft, was the culmination of a hard fought but friendly competition which attracted 52 entries.

The judges were Gillian Banks from The Gillian Banks Theatre School, Andrew Barker, divisional director of Garnett Dickinson Print, Rotherham United striker Drewe Broughton and Helen Lee from the Music Factory.

Cabaret was provided by the Gillian Banks Theatre School and martial arts group Strike, who reached the finals of TV’s Britain’s Got Talent.
