Chip pans spark kitchen fires

FIREFIGHTERS dealt with two chip pans over the weekend.

Crews were called to a property on Green Finch Close, Brinsworth, at around 11.30am on Saturday.

A spokeswoman said crews from Parkway, Rotherham and Aston were there for around half-an-hour and no-one was injured.

Firefighters were also called to Varney Road, Wath, at around 6.05pm on Saturday.

The chip pan fire was out on arrival but crews cleared the house of smoke, the spokeswoman said.

Crews also dealt with a deliberate shed fire on Rimmington Road, Wombwell, at around 2.10pm on Saturday.

Arsonists also torched a vehicle on Flowitt Street, Mexborough, at around 11.45pm on Saturday.

The spokeswoman was not able to give a description of the vehicle.
