Child sex abuse trial: "Victim beaten for going out with friends"

A MAN accused of 15 sex crimes began a relationship with a girl nearly ten years younger than him and never let her have any friends, a court heard.

Sheffield Crown Court was told the girl was 15 when she and Basharat Hussain began a consenting relationship.

But in a police interview played to Hussain’s Sheffield Crown Court on Monday, the alleged victim, now a 30-year-old woman, said she had to call Hussain whenever she wanted to leave her house.

He would stay on the line until she returned home, she told police.

When she once went clubbing without asking his permission, he waited up for her to return.

She arrived home and he dragged her out of the taxi before punching and kicking her, the woman claimed.

The woman also described having consensual sex with him, but added that it was sometimes so rough that it would make her bleed.

He also denies 11 other charges including fale imprisonment, indecent assault and rape.

The trial continues.
