Chiedozie Ogbene could be back for Rotherham United on Saturday

The flying winger damaged his hamstring during a blistering debut against Tranmere Rovers on August 31 and has been sidelined ever since.

But the 22-year-old is back in full training and, barring last-minute mishaps, will be in the Millers squad for this weekend's League One clash at Blackpool.

"Chieo is fine," manager Paul Warne confirmed this morning. "He trained on Monday and he'll train today and Friday. Hopefully he will be involved on Saturday. If I think he can help the team, he'll be in it."

Striker Kyle Vassell returned to group training today after a hamstring problem also suffered in the Tranmere match and there is an outside chance he will also make the matchday 18.

Ogbene, a summer signing from Brentford, made an instant impact on the left wing against Rovers at AESSEAL New York Stadium.

"He's got a lot to live up to now after his debut, hasn't he?" Warne said. "Whenever a player is out of the squad, they get significantly better in everyone's eyes!

"When you think about the players you liked as a kid, you only remember the things they did perfectly. It's like they never made a mistake. When you hear (Millers ambassador) John Breckin talk about Tony Towner it's as if Tony never, ever gave the ball away.

"Chieo came in and had a really good debut. He showed what he can bring to us. Then he's been injured. In a weird way, he's had the perfect introduction. Everyone now thinks we're getting Ronaldo back!"

Ogbene was close to featuring against Doncaster Rovers in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday but Warne chose to hold him back for the league campaign.

"Had it been the last day of the season, I could definitely have played Chieo," the boss said. "We had enough players for the Doncaster game so it was pointless taking a five per cent risk with him."
