Charity launches new Rotherham substance abuse services

A FREE support service for adults affected by drug and alcohol misuse is up and running.

National health and care charity Change Grow Live (CGL) launched its new substance misuse service on April 1.

CGL was commissioned by Rotherham Borough Council to deliver services both in the community and at its base in Carnson House, on Moorgate Road.

The charity hopes that its “proven service model” — combining a “charitable ethos with sound business principles”, according to its website — will make support more accessible.

It aims for long-term change by offering access to treatment, support to improve health and well-being, as well as housing and employment advice.

Director Lucy Harrison said: “We are really excited to be have been commissioned to deliver the new drug and alcohol substance misuse service.

“We are looking forward to working with pharmacies and innovative care provision across Rotherham.”

She added: “We are ambitious to support people to move away from problematic behaviours and into sustained recovery.

“There is a real commitment and passion to work in Rotherham to continue to embed positive change.”

Terri Roche, Rotherham Council’s director of public health, said: “It’s really important that anyone experiencing drug and alcohol substance misuse is able to access the support they need as quickly and easily as possible.

“We are delighted to be working with CGL to deliver this service and we hope together, we can encourage more people to reach out and seek help rather than suffering in silence.”
