Chance to kickstart your working life with police and fire service course

A COURSE aimed at helping young unemployed people kickstart their working life is back this month — with plenty of spots up for grabs and open days all this week.

South Yorkshire Police and South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue are teaming up to deliver their award winning Prince’s Trust Team Programme at Dearne Fire Station from May 16.

The free 12 week personal development course is open to anyone aged 16 to 25 year olds who is out of work and education and involves building skills such as team working, time management, leadership, problem solving and resilience, as well as offering help with CV and interview skills and job searching techniques.

It offers participants an action-packed residential experience designed to improve confidence and a two week work experience placement in a sector of their choice, as well as drill days with the fire crews and a visit to police departments.

Open day sessions are being held at the fire station from 10am to 1pm from tomorrow to Friday.
