Mr Perryman, who has been a member of the authority for the last 13 years and was appointed chairman in 2007, said: “I am pleased to continue as chairman of the police authority.

“While the authority’s time is coming to an end, there is no room for complacency and the coming months will be an important period to establish key groundwork for when the commissioner takes over responsibility for the county’s police force.
