Centre in Maltby evacuated after lights melt

Maltby’s Wesley Centre was cleared yesterday (Mar 18) afternoon,

A fire brigade spokeswoman said that a fire crew — which was called out at 12.20pm — removed the lights and left the scene after a few minutes.

Centre manager Elaine Bowns said an alarm had gone off because a fire sensor detected a cover was too hot.

She said the Maltby Minors production of Back to the 80s, which is due to take place from tonight until Wednesday, would go ahead as planned as the light issue had been resolved.
